Chief Executive Officer - Cdr John Muxworthy RN
 

Founder of the UKNDA. A member of the Board of Directors since 2007 (re-elected October 2009). 32 years service in the Royal Navy as an S&S officer on the General List. Served in HM Ships Venus, Lion, Dundas, Kent, Centaur, Victorious, Sirius, Lincoln, Apollo, SS Canberra (Falklands War). Shore establishments etc: HMS Pembroke, Victory (RNB), RNC Greenwich, Inner Temple (Legal Training), HMS Neptune (Faslane), Kyle of Lochalsh, HMS Nelson (RNB), Northwood (CinCFleet as Staff Officer Management Systems). Member of the Royal United Services Institute, Naval Club, Naval Review, South Atlantic Medal Association, Marine Society & Sea Cadets.

 
Public Relations Officer & Deputy CEO - Andy Smith FRGS FCIJ

Member of the Board of Directors since 2008 (re-elected October 2009). 28 years in journalism and public relations. Longstanding civilian involvement with the Army. Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. Fellow (& Past-President), Chartered Institute of Journalists. Trustee of the Victorian Military Society and Editor of the VMS journal Soldiers of the Queen. Branch officer, Royal Military Police Association. Member - Sandhurst Foundation, Independent Defence Media Association, Churchill Centre, Royal British Legion, Royal Artillery Historical Society, Friends of Firepower, Friends of the Imperial War Museum, Friends of the National Army Museum.  

Membership & Company Secretary - David Robinson

Royal Navy service 1954 – 2004 (retired as Lt Cdr), specialising in above-water and anti-submarine warfare. MOD civil servant responsible for training planning at the Maritime Warfare School 1994-2004.

Treasurer - Michael Morrison

Born in 1934 and left school at age 17 to join Barclays Bank. Two years National Service in the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders and Gordon Highlanders. Retired from Barclays Bank as a London branch manager after 40 years service. Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.

National Development Manager - Martin Cakebread MSc BA(Hons) MCIM

Elected to the Board of Directors, Oct 2009. Previously the Vice-Chairman of UKNDA London Branch, organiser/facilitator of the Sept 2009 Defence Debate at the Naval Club, and organiser of the campaign and petition for a permanent London memorial to the British servicemen and servicewomen killed during recent military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. A highly experienced political campaigner, a constituency association chairman for the Conservative Party in London, and a strategy consultant to the Party in the 2005 General Election campaign. 10 years' experience in advertising, marketing and new media.

Non-Executive Director - L.A. (Tony) Edwards BSc MBA CEng FRAeS

Elected to the Board of Directors, Oct 2009. 30 years in the defence industry including senior roles in Lucas Aerospace, Dowty Aerospace and Messier-Dowty. A former member of the National Defence Industrial Council, Head of Defence Exports at the Ministry of Defence, and Visiting Professor at the UK Defence Academy. MBA from Harvard. A Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, Past President of the Air League, formerly a trustee and chairman of the Fundraising Committee of the RAF Museum and for 15 years a trustee of the Royal Navy Historic Flight and the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust.

Non-Executive Director - Prof. Richard Holmes CBE TD JP

Elected to the Board of Directors, Oct 2009. Author and broadcaster, President of the British Commission for Military History, Richard Holmes has taught at RMA Sandhurst, the Royal Military College of Science, and the UK Defence Academy. Teaches Cranfield University’s Shrivenham-based Global Security MSc course, and the Higher Command and Staff Course at the Joint Service Command and Staff College. He was a Territorial (private to brigadier) for 36 years.

Non-Executive Director - Air Cdre Andrew Lambert RAF (Retd)

Elected to the Board of Directors, Oct 2009. Contributor to UKNDA report A Compelling Necessity (2009) and co-author of UK Defence Needs (2010). RAF career includes: OC 23(F) Squadron; Director of Defence Studies, RAF; Air Commander Falklands; Commander British Forces, Northern Iraq No Fly Zone (Operation Warden); Deputy Commander CAOC 3 Reitan (NATO Air Norway); Asst Comdt (Air) Joint Services Command and Staff College, Shrivenham. Member, Royal United Services Institute, Royal Institute of Navigation.

Adviser to PRO - Mark Hayball: Has held posts with Royal Auxiliary Air Force (as NATO Operations Officer, HMS Warrior 18 Group Strike Command Northwood), Royal Military Police (163 Provost Specialist Unit TA), Territorial, Auxiliary & Volunteer Reserve Association of Greater London, and as Liaison Officer to Brigadier G3 Reserves UK Land Forces.
