UKNDA Launch Report

The launch of the UKNDA was a very successful event, held at the Cabinet War Rooms, The Churchill Museum, Westminster.
 
Over 100 people were in attendance including media agencies such as the BBC & Sky News plus newspapers including; The Guardian, The Independent, The Sun and The Daily Mail.
 
The event consisted of:
  • An initial launch speech by Cdr. John Muxworthy welcoming the attendees to the launch, introducing the panel and outlining the objectives of the UKNDA to the media.  John then introduces the organisations first president, Winston S. Churchill.

  • Winston S. Churchill then addressed the conference on why he decided to accept the role of President, why the UKNDA is needed, what it hopes to achieve and he then introduced one of the UKNDA's Patrons, General The Lord Guthrie. click here to read a copy of the speech

  • Winston S. Churchill then introduced other notable supporters of the organisation via a video clip including Lord Boyce, Lord Craig and Lord Owen.click here to view the clips (3.5MB Quicktime MOV)

  • General The Lord Guthrie then addressed the conference on why he agreed to become president and what he feels needs to be done.

  • Winston S. Churchill then chaired a Q & A session with the media where questions relating to the UKNDAs stance on the current inadequacies in the defence budget were put to Lord Guthrie and Winston S. Churchill.

  • Winston S. Churchill thanked everyone for coming and drew the event to a close.
