We may be under economic fire at present, but that hasn’t stopped Blackpool restaurateur Glenn Hanford from putting his head above the parapet. This week the manager of the town’s Buccaneer Family Bar has thrown caution to the wind, giving hundreds of free meals to members of the Armed Forces and their families. “It was my catering manager Mark Fox’s idea,” says Hanford. “He’s ex-RAF, and during the Falklands War, he was parachuted in to cook for the front-line troops. He thought we should do something to say thank-you to our brave servicemen and women, and I agreed. It has been a bit of a commitment, especially as we’ve been doing an eat-as-much-as-you-like carvery. But it’s been an absolute pleasure at the same time.” Click here for full story. |
