Military campaigns to cost an extra £2 bn |
 Military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan next year will cost at least £2 billion, the Chancellor estimated. Mr Darling said that the £2 billion, which will be paid from the Treasury’s contingency reserves, included about £900 million for new equipment. The MoD’s shopping list includes more armoured vehicles, more body armour, upgraded communication systems and electronic countermeasure devices. Full report here. |
