MONTHLY REPORT

And now for our progress to date and our ongoing plans, read on.

We progress steadily and the total of our members and registered supporters, as at 31 March, was 2117.  So long as you all tell everyone about our new campaign, we can now confidently expect a surge in interest and the many new members that we need to help us succeed in our purpose.

The UKNDA must be ready in all respects to put our case to the Nation in time to make a real impact at the next General Election. Thus we have barely eighteen months to get our act and the people of this country together so that, all singing from the same hymn sheet and all in tune, we can make a real difference, Support Our Armed Forces, and induce our decision makers, politicians of all parties, to provide:

Sufficient, appropriate and fully funded Armed Forces that the Nation needs to
defend effectively this Country, its people, their security and vital interests
wherever they may be.

This achieve this, our purpose, we need just three things – three “M”s.  We need:

  1. To constantly get our MESSAGE out to all of the citizens of this country of ours.
  2. To rapidly gain MORE MEMBERS and, to fund the running and rapid development of the UKNDA – we need:

FREE CAMPAIGN CAR STICKERS

CAMPAIGN CAR STICKERS

We have designed a “Support Our Armed Forces” car sticker and will provide every subscribing UKNDA Member two car stickers FREE.  To get your stickers and save UKNDA funds more than £300 in postage costs, any active (i.e. paid up) subscribing members wishing to claim their two FREE car stickers, please send a stamped self-addressed envelope (SAE) (size 8¾” x 4¼”) with your membership number on the back of the envelope to:

Car Stickers may also be purchased BY ANYONE, member or non-member, from the same address Two stickers for a total of £2. Ten Stickers for £7. Send a SAE (size 8¾” x 4¼”) and a cheque made out to “UKNDA Ltd”.

PROJECTS REPORT

The following projects are being investigated, being developed or are ‘in hand’:

  1. Developing a Nationwide UKNDA organisation of County or Regional branches.  Two pilot projects – Warminster and S Scotland are in progress.
  2. Developing a “Support Our Armed Forces” campaign.  Ongoing.  New Web-site now active.
  3. Conducting a Poll/Survey of MPs.  Undertaken by ComRes. The survey report and results are now ‘to hand’ and are being considered for an “Exclusive” publication by a major National broadsheet.
  4. Holding our first annual UKNDA ‘Grand Reception’ – in the planning stage. Royal Chelsea Hospital and the Portsmouth Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines have been booked.  Date: Friday 5th September.
  5. Expanding the number of the UKNDA’s corporate members or associates. (Military-related charities, associations and businesses).In hand & ongoing.
  6. Compiling a list of high profile ‘Popular Celebrities’ and inviting their overt support.  In hand and ongoing.  
  7. Creating a TV programme about the Nation’s need for Defence & the Armed Forces (and the UKNDA’s perspective thereon). In the early investigative planning stage. Progressing well.
  8. As part of a Tri-partite grouping, undertaking a major study of the State of our Armed Forces, their needs and funding requirements.  In the early investigative planning stage.
  9. Participating in discussions about the “Covenant” – and Hull University’s plans for a conference on the subject on 29th May (t.b.c.)  Ongoing.
  10. Participating in fringe activities at all three 2008 Party Conferences. Under Consideration.


VOLUNTEERS STILL REQUIRED:  (Applications already received are being collated and all will be considered and replied to).   Volunteers are required urgently to fill the following (part-time) posts:
  1. An overall UKNDA National Development Manager (NDM). Also required are perhaps 4 or 5 x Regional Development co-ordinators (working to the NDM).
  2. UKNDA Fundraiser.
  3. UKNDA Web-site: Assistant Editor (On-Line) (AE(OL)) – (and Moderator).

The Royal Society of St. George.  In their latest (March) Edition of their magazine “England’s Standard” the Royal Society of St George were kind enough to publicise the UKNDA.  I most strongly recommend their web-site to you:

Finally:  We plan to hold ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of “UKNDA Ltd”
in central London (location to be decided) on Wednesday 1st October 2008.
All paid up MEMBERS of the UKNDA are entitled to attend and vote at the AGM.

In order to determine the capacity of the room or hall required to house those attending YOU ARE REQUESTED TO ADVISE US NOW, BY E-MAIL ( secretary@uknda.org ), IF YOU WOULD (circumstances permitting) LIKE TO ATTEND THE UKNDA AGM on Wednesday 1st Oct 08..

We need this information to ensure that we do not waste YOUR membership subscriptions by hiring a venue too large for the numbers attending.  We need this information NOW so that we may confirm our venue booking before all suitable locations are pre-booked and thus not available to us.    Please do e-mail us NOW if you feel you would wish and be able to attend in London on 1st October (the meeting probably to start at 1400 (2 p.m.) and conclude by 1600.  Your e-mail (or non-email) would not commit or preclude you from attending and, nearer the time, we will ask every qualifying member to confirm their attendance. A good estimate of numbers likely to attend will enable us to hire the most cost-effective location.


So – your PERSONAL ACTION PLAN should now be:
  1. E-mail and tell everyone you know about our SUPPORT OUR ARMED FORCES Campaign – and:  www.supportourarmedforces.org.uk
  2. If you are an active subscribing MEMBER send us your SAE to receive your two FREE campaign Car Stickers.
  3. If you are a Registered Supporter you may purchase two, or seven (or more) campaign Car Stickers by sending us a SAE and a cheque – details above.
  4. If you would wish to attend our AGM on 1st Oct – please send us an e-mail NOW so that we can book an appropriate (and cost-effective) venue.
