Andrew Roberts in the Sunday Telegraph, on the issues raised by the RAF uniforms ban. Praise for the "excellent" UKNDA campaign on the Military Covenant.
Although Britain is the least militaristic of societies, we have long taken a quiet pride in our Armed Forces; it has been a long time since Rudyard Kipling's Tommy Atkins was refused service in a pub because "We serve no redcoats here."
Yet the despicable news from Wittering of abuse of the RAF personnel seems to herald a new attitude, one that I believe goes far deeper than the doubts that many Britons - though not I - still feel about the legitimacy of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
