Defence chiefs face fresh cuts in budgets and jobs and closer links with France under a shake-up announced yesterday. Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth warned of “hard choices” and a need to scale down plans for new equipment as he launched a Defence Green Paper to pave the way for a review after the general election.
